Maternity photo shoot

Yesterday we had our maternity photo shoot! It turned out to be a perfect day, and we are so happy with the photos! My sister Laura is an amazing photographer, and we are so glad she wanted to do this shoot for us! Thank you Laura!! These are better than we could have hoped for!! You rock!

And a big thank you to my sister Becky who did our hair before we left for the shoot! She did an amazing job on both of us and we’re very happy with the results! Josh had a haircut, and I had Becky straighten my hair and put curls at the ends, then style it for me. She also added some fun bling with a few tinsel/glitter strands! We chose a dark blue and a light blue, and a gold and bronze. So fun! Thanks Beck, you rock!

We had a hard time finding parking at the spot we wanted to take photos; and I am certainly not up to walking very far at this point! We decided that Laura and Josh would drop Brett, Mason, and me off at the site, and Laura and Josh would drive their cars up to the valet parking (just our luck that some big music festival AND a wedding were happening there) and see how much it would cost. The valet guy told them that the festival was ending and that nobody would be available to retrieve our cars for us after we were done. 🙁 So Josh and Laura were at a loss and didn’t know what to do or where to go from there, and the guy took pity on them and asked what they were doing. Josh explained he had a 9 months pregnant wife and that we were going to do a photo shoot. He said he’d talk to some people, then he came back and said he’d give them two spots that had been blocked off for vendors at the event!! They ended up with front row parking! Yay! 🙂

So here are some of the wonderful photos that Laura took for us:

AND A QUICK NOTE ON THE IMAGE BELOW…no, I don’t have a man hand, LOL! The hand on the right is Josh’s…we thought it would be great to have both of us form the heart over Lillian!

It was so cool…at one point I spotted a group of about three dolphins arching through the waves about 100 feet from us! They were just beautiful! I told the others and we all got to watch them for a minute! 🙂 And then Josh spotted this, so Laura got a picture of it for us…how cool to see our daughter’s name carved in stone right where we were! 🙂

Josh also took some great pictures of Laura and Brett and Mason:

What an excellent post, Honey! This is great to be able to come back, read the story, and see our maternity photos so easily anytime we want to. The parking was really just awful and for a moment I didn’t know what we were going to do to get photos before the sun set. I can’t wait to show Lillian how special she has always been to us. You’re looking better than ever, Rachel, and I adore these photos of you.

Thank you again, Laura, for the excellent photos. They are better than we could have hoped for and I keep wanting to look at them again. I’m really glad that we ended up being there at sunset and you set up the photos perfectly. What a beautiful place that is to take photos. Thank you also, Becky, for doing our hair for us, too.

What a great day together and a great milestrone in our pregnancy. 🙂

What a great blog! I love what you did with the pics Ra!:) It was my absolute pleasure Josh and Ra-you are so welcome. Thank you for wanting me to do them. These photos are beautiful and thank you for sharing them with us. I think Laura has a bright future as a photographer as she seems to capture the light perfectly as well as your individual personalities on film.

Rachel and Josh…you both radiate joy, anticipation at the birth of your daugther and your love for one another. Lillian is one much loved baby girl already.

Oh Rachel you look RADIANT in those photos! (And Josh doesn’t look half bad either! 😛 ) We are doing our maternity photos soon, and I am really looking forward to it!
However, we don’t have the beautiful water front that you do! What a wonderful place to take pictures and document Lilly’s upcoming arrival!

I appreciate the kind comments from Kathleen 🙂 And you guys too-this was a fun day and hard to believe that this was soon a year ago! Lillian is that much closer to her special 1 year old birthday!! wow!! 🙂 Almost 9 months, hard to believe!!! Growing and gorgeous and sweet and perfect!
