Our 4th of July Celebration

Our family got together on Sunday July 3 for our Independence Day bbq celebration. It was Lillian’s first holiday (besides Father’s Day), and it was so fun to celebrate it with her! She’s getting so big so fast. It’s fun to see her change and grow, but sad at the same time, too.

Dad barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers, Mom made her famous and excellent potato salad, I made my baked beans, and Laura made cupcakes. Oh Mom also made brownies! It was so great to see family again, and to celebrate our nation’s independence.

Here is four generations of female ancestry: My Mom, Me, Lillian, and my Grandma

It looks like we didn’t get pictures of everybody on our camera, but I think Laura did on hers. Laura got some excellent photos of Josh, me, and Lillian:

On Monday, the 4th of July, Josh and I stayed home with Lillian and watched fireworks from our front lawn. We wrapped Lillian in a blanket and held her. It was 74 degrees so it wasn’t too cold at all. (Last year it was very chilly outside to watch the fireworks.)  Lillian slept through it all. She only jumped a bit (so did I!) when an illegal one was set off real close to our house.

Shadow was in the front window watching with us. The 4th of July was Shadow’s 8th birthday!! Such a good and sweet kitty she’s always been. We’ve been especially impressed with how she’s handling Lillian. Normally she does not like babies at all, and runs and hides from howling babies. With Lillian, she never hid once. She’s so sweet and smart. She knew she was family! We’re so proud of her, and we love our great grey girl so much!!
