Shadow and Lillian

This week Shadow and Lillian “met” for the first time! Of course they met each other when Lillian was one day old and came home from the hospital with us, but this was the first time Lillian seemed aware of Shadow, and the first time Shadow initiated contact with Lillian! We’re so proud of our girls!

Shadow leaned forward to sniff Lillian’s hand:

And Lillian smiled at Shadow!

Then Lillian reached out and touched Shadow’s paw:

WOW!!! What great pictures. Shadow is being so cool. You can tell, she has accepted Lillian.

This is so heartwarming to see that I just keep going looking back and forth over the progression. I’m sad that I was sleeping while these wonderful moments happened but you captured it perfectly, Sweetie. We had such a big fear that Shadow would feel jealous or replaced when we brought our new baby home. We have such a great bond with Shadow that we knew it would be so tough if we thought she was hurt at all.

Fortunately, Shadow has been so wonderful with Lillian since the very start. It’s especially remarkable because Shadow has never liked to be around toddlers or babies. Whenever she’s encountered one in the past she would immediately hide. She’s never hidden once from Lillian, even the first day we brought her home or if she start crying a bit. That really has to show that Shadow knows Lillian is her family.

I love to see Lillian so loving of her kitty already and Shadow feeling so secure so close to her. What good girls!

These pics are amazing. When you shared them on the slideshow that one Sunday, I was so in awe. I love seeing them again here. Shadow is so happy to have Lillian and vice versa. You guys prepared Shadow in all the right ways and she loves Lillian as we can all see in thse pics. Lillian and her will be best buds!!!
