Some catching up

I really don’t even care that I haven’t kept the blog up to date…just haven’t had the heart. But I want to at least have a record of some of the things that we’ve done the last month.

1. Pumpkin patch: we took Lillian to her first pumpkin patch. We didn’t feel like doing anything, but wanted to for Lillian’s sake. We rode a pumpkin train from the parking lot to the farm, and she got to pet a sheep, a goat, and a calf. πŸ™‚ She swung, played with toys, rode a sled on my lap down a cotton-seed hill, and picked her own pumpkin. πŸ™‚ Then we ate burgers out with Laura and Mason who had met us at the pumpkin patch too. πŸ™‚

2. Lillian turned 17 months old. She’s the light of our lives, and we love her so much! She has changed so much, I couldn’t describe it all. She speaks in basic sentences now…”Pony ride” “Kitty pet” “meatΒ  eat” “mama hug” “beep beep car” and many more! She recognizes and names all colors, she reads the spines of some of her books, and is either reading or has memorized the last word in most of her books! We are so grateful for her and are so proud of her!

3. Halloween. Lillian was an adorable little lion…she was too cute for words. We took her to a carnival where she had her first pony ride! She loved it of course. πŸ™‚ Then we took her for her first Trick or Treat experience! We went with her cousins Mason, Makayla, and Alyssa. Brendon didn’t want to go out that night. We kept it very short – we only took her to two houses because we wanted to get her home and bathed and in bed before it was past her bedtime. Her cousin Mason was a lion too (out of sheer coincidence! Neither Laura nor I knew that’s what our kids would be!).

4. Our friend Steven visited from Las Vegas and met Lillian.

5. I had two root canals redone. Oh joy. I was told over a year ago that I have a bad infection in my jaw bone, and they needed to open up two root canals and clean everything out. So over two weeks that was done. Then last week I had new crowns put on. I also had a sore throat at this time, but it only lasted a couple of days and never got too bad.

6. We picked up our dear, sweet Shadow’s ashes in her beautiful cedar box. Her name is engraved on it and it’s locked with a padlock. They also made a paw print on a terra-cotta disc for us. It’s devastating and heart-breaking but we’re happy to have her under our roof with us again.

7. Our 6th wedding Anniversary. We ‘celebrated’ our 6th anniversary by staying home most of the day, but then took Lillian to after hours pediatric care because she had her first ever fever. πŸ™ It had been up to 103Β° at one point and we weren’t taking chances, even though we knew she just had a minor cold. They gave her Tylenol and weren’t concerned. She was feverish for two days and slept a lot the second day…and had a bit of stuffed/runny nose but never any cough or anything. We were so grateful when she was back to normal! Our poor girl. She was extra teething too. πŸ™ Of course we’re happy to have been married for 6 years now, but we weren’t in a ‘dress-up and go out mood’…nor could we or would we have made Lillian go out to dinner or anything while sick!

So that’s a brief overview of what I didn’t blog about lately. There are some other, more personal things, that I didn’t go over and maybe never will. Some things good, some things bad. It’s been a strange time lately.
